Ecofiltro:

DELIVERING CLEAN WATER TO GUATEMALA... AND BEYOND?

Ecofiltro, a social enterprise founded by Philip Wilson and his family, transformed from a non-profit endeavor into a profitable business, addressing the critical need for safe drinking water in Guatemala. Initially established to combat health concerns related to unsafe drinking water, Ecofiltro grew from distributing 2,000 filters annually as part of a foundation to selling 219,793 filters across 18 countries by 2022. Despite its international success, Philip faced a dilemma: the increasing demand abroad threatened the company's primary goal of reaching one million Guatemalan families. With Ecofiltro's commitment to B-Corp Certification, Philip had to decide how or even if to balance international expansion while also staying true to the company's original mission.

How might a company balance its B-Corp values and responsibility towards its founding mission of providing clean water within its community, with the opportunities and challenges of international expansion?
